I'm Elise Cohen and this is get out of your own way.

The podcast for women who are looking for a more spiritual approach to healing and transformation and want to make significant shifts in their lives.

What's missing in your life?

Self-worth, confidence, motivati

on, direction.

How about just owning your life or being ok with who you are instead of trying to be what you think others want you to be.

Let's get to the root cause of what's holding you back so you can move forward on your journey to the truest most authentic version of you. The you that is free of self doubt,

uncertainty, indecision, and hesitation. The you that is empowered to take on the world by getting out of your own way.

Hey, everyone and welcome to get out of your own way. This is episode six. Forgiveness is for you, not them. Today, we'll embark on a journey towards healing and liberation. Today's episode is all about forgiveness, both forgiving others and perhaps more importantly,

forgiving ourselves in my transformative life coaching practice. I often encounter incredible women burdened by the weight of unforgiveness, whether it's an old wound from someone else or a lingering regret from the past. The inability to forgive can be a heavy anchor preventing us from sailing fre

ely toward our true potential.

So why is forgiveness so crucial? It's not about condoning the actions or mistakes. It's about releasing yourself from the chains of resentment and pain. The inability to forgive is a huge obstacle for most. It keeps you stuck, unable to move forward in your life. Very often,

we spend an inordinate amount of time repeating over and over again in our heads,

angry words we'd like to say to anyone who has wronged us. But that's where those words stay in our minds. We never follow through with confronting our perpetrator and consequently,

we remain angry, stuck, resentful and we hold grudges.

But here's the thing forgiveness is for you, not for them. It's for your peace of mind, your health, your life's journey, not anyone else's now equally powerful is the act of forgiving oneself. Look, we've all made mistakes, big ones, small ones will probably continue to make them as we move forward. And that echoes in the chambers of our minds.

But holding on to self blame only stifles our growth. Forgiving yourself is an act of self love,

an acknowledgment that you are worthy of redemption and transformation. If you are struggling with forgiveness, I want to share a beautiful resource with you on my website www.EliseCohen.com. You'll find a free downloadable guided meditation for forgiveness.

It's a safe space where you don't have to confront anyone in person, not on the phone, not in a text or email. Just remember, forgiveness is a personal journey. Now, let's take a moment to experience just a snippet of the free guided meditation for forgiveness that you can easily download from my site, find a comfortable place to sit or lie down, close your eyes and let these soothing words guide you take a deep cleansing breath in through the nose,

out through the mouth.

And please note if you're driving or operating heavy machinery, this would not be the time to listen. You can listen later. Now after you've taken your deep cleansing breath, look down in front of you in your mind's eye. Imagine that you see a small footpath through some flowering shrubs. It's an inviting yet mysterious path, but go down this way as you curve around the beauty of this garden, you inhale this fresh clean oxygen that the plants and flowers produce.

You feel so pleasant and you're so relaxed as you round a corner, a small bench made of a beautiful wood comes into view and you see the person you most need to forgive is sitting right there. A small bench made of a beautiful wood comes into view and you see the person you most need to forgive is sitting right there.

They've been waiting for you because this is a very important encounter. You sit down beside them knowing this place, this garden is very safe. There are some things that need to be said to this person. So with bravery and courage, you look them directly in their eyes and say you hurt me. I have suffered for too long because of this burden I carry in the form of a grudge towards you. And now I forgive you, I forgive you not to help you, but to better myself.

I forgive you and you will not enter my thoughts any longer. Now, take one more deep cleansing breath and open your eyes when you're ready and there you have it a glimpse into the transformative power of forgiveness.
